CASI Academic Workshop: Interpreting the Soviet Cultural Legacy in Central Asia
March 6-7, 2012
On 6-7 March 2012 the Central Asian Studies Institute of AUCA hosted an international academic workshop titled “Interpreting the Soviet Cultural Legacy in Central Asia”. The event gathered 15 scholars and researchers representing some leading research centers and universities of Central Asia, Russia, Europe and the United States for a discussion organized around five themes.

Bringing the Climate Change Debate Down to Earth
The Tian Shan Policy Center organized a conference and roundtable on 'Rethinking Water and Land Management Strategies to Protect Kyrgyz Communities and Livelihoods' to facilitate dialogue among scholars and experts on advancing environmental sustainability and climate adaptation in Kyrgyzstan.  Participants included members of government, international organizations, NGOs, researchers, scholars and students.

Call for Proposals: CASI Research Grants for AUCA Faculty Members
The Central Asian Studies Institute of AUCA is calling for research grant applications under its Central Asia Research Initiative. This program is intended to support original research that will generate new empirical knowledge and contribute to a better understanding of Central Asia.  In this round CASI will consider projects with the budget up to 10,000 USD each. The proposals will be evaluated by a special board consisting of the members of the CASI International Advisory Board. Deadline for applications is March 5, 2012.
