Nicholas J. Mazik is an Associate Professor in the International and Business Law Department at the American University of Central Asia (AUCA). He told us about his first semester teaching at AUCA and his thoughts about Central Asian region.

Bard exchange student from AUCA Daria Kim attended the Open Data Science Conference (ODSC) West on November 13-15 in San Francisco. She was chosen as one of the most outstanding students from the Bard College Computer Science program.

On November 27, the Alumni Relations Office and the Alumni Council held an Alumni Association Meeting at AUCA. The meeting gathered more than seventy alumni from different departments and class years.

December 8, 2015 four AUCA students received scholarships to study in South Korea from Jae Chang Lee, the Chief Executive Officer of the “Jaechang Lee” Skin Clinic. 

On November 29, 2015, New Generation Academy (NGA) administration and alumni arranged a “Day of the Culture” for NGA students. NGA students enrolled in the 2015-2016 academic year visited the Kyrgyz State Museum of History with faculty and some alumni.

November 19 - 24, 2015 two Practice Pasture Management Training Courses on Sustainable Pasture Management were held by Dr. Zheenbek Kulenbekov during his Environmental and Social Impact Assessment courses at AUCA.

Nuriza Begalieva, a Senior in the European Studies department, spent an exchange semester this spring at Sciences Po, Reims, in France. There she studied the politics of France and the European Union while also improving her French.

Thirteen AUCA students along with Kyrgyz and US-based professional instructors will be challenging themselves to a two-week hike through the Ala-Archa National Park next summer.

On October 29, 2015, 26 students from the Environmental Management and Sustainable Development (EMSD) program conducted field research to count radiation in the AUCA campus area. Vanessa Graf, one of the students on the trip, tells us about her experience.

The Central Asian Studies Institute hosted its Fourth Annual Conference on “The Eurasian Economic Union: political, economic and social aspects” on October 31 - November 1, 2015 at the new campus of AUCA.
